ICAMHS Registered Clinician/Mataora (Part-Time)

Te Oranga Hinengaro & Ngati Porou Oranga are seeking an experienced and passionate (CAMHS) Child & Adolescent Registered Clinician / Mataora

This role is Part Time / Fixed Term community service based at Te Puia Springs Hospital on our beautiful East Coast

Providing culturally grounded, community-based mental health assessment, intervention and support for tamariki and rangatahi (0–18 years) and their whānau within the Ngāti Porou rohe.

The role operates within a whānau-centred, strengths-based model of care, supporting access to appropriate services and contributing to positive mental health and wellbeing outcomes.

Operating Competencies:

  • To awhi and manaaki tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau on their journey to wellness by delivering safe, effective and culturally responsive mental health services.
  • Support whānau to navigate health and social systems, ensures whānau are informed and involved throughout care, and works collaboratively with internal and external partners to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Provide clinical guidance & support with whanau, kohanga reo, kura (Kura Reo & Mainstream) & community ensuring the delivery of evidence based & culturally competent care.
  • Respond & provide crisis intervention when need arises
  • Conduct comprehensive Child & adolescent mental health assessments
  • Liaise & navigate with whanau access to specialist child & adolescent mental health services
  • Advocate for the integration of Mātauranga Māori healing practices in service delivery.
  • Foster a supportive environment for team members to grow and develop their skills.
  • Facilitate active wānanga for team development and community engagement.

Qualification Requirements

  • Registration in either Nursing, Social Work, Psychology (or working towards).
  • Proficiency in Mātauranga Māori healing practices or a strong willingness to learn and engage in active wānanga.
  • Astute clinical assessment, analysis & planning in mental wellbeing & infant/child health services.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by Tamariki, rangatahi & whānau in the context of mental health & addictions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills.
  • Commitment to cultural competence and sensitivity in all interactions.

Must hold a current New Zealand Full Drivers Licence.
