TE KAUPAPA O TE TŪRANGA - POSITION PURPOSE
Are you passionate about supporting the health and wellbeing of mothers, pēpi, and whānau?
We are seeking a full time Rau Atawhai - Kaiawhina Community Worker to provide culturally grounded health promotion, education, and practical support across the Ngāti Porou rohe. This role supports whānau with pēpi and tamariki under 5 years old by providing advocacy, education, and practical support that enhances safety and well-being. It is part of the Naati and Healthy Team that collectively works alongside whānau to promote whānau ora and ensure tamariki grow up in safe, nurturing environments. This includes supporting vaccination events, undertaking assessments, facilitating and gathering consumer feedback when required, encouraging whānau to access and engage with health services, and supporting whānau-led health management.
You will play a key part in reducing health inequities and contributing to improved health outcomes for our tamariki

• Established links and networks in community
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Involvement in community activities
• A high level of cultural sensitivity & knowledge of tikanga
• Excellent communication skills Basic level of computer literacy
• Ability to organise and plan activities in community Self-motivation, initiative and enthusiasm Flexibility
• Team Leadership Skills
• Clean Driver's License (Full)
Desirable:
• Nonsmoker
• Lives in the community of interest
• An understanding of Tikanga, Te Reo and nga hapu o Ngati Porou.
• An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the Ottawa Charter
• Previous experience working within Maori communities
• Proficiency in te Reo Maori me ona tikanga Mataora Training
