As a Kaimahi, you will be a mentor and advocate, walking alongside young people to help them heal, reconnect with their identity, and build confidence in their future. This role is about more than caregiving; it is about providing the stability and hope our rangatahi need to thrive.

 

Ngā Kōrero Mō Te Tūranga | Information about the Role

This position offers up to 40 hours per week on a24/7 rotating roster. You must be flexible to work 8 to 12-hour shifts,including day, afternoon, and awake night shifts, as well as weekends and public holidays.

  • Provide high-quality care, supervision, and emotional support for tamariki.
  • Build trusting relationships and encourage connections to whakapapa, culture, and whānau.
  • Support life-skills development, education, and health needs.
  • Collaborate with whānau, schools, and social workers while maintaining accurate records.
  • Ensure a warm, positive environment where tamariki can thrive.

Ngā Pūkenga me ngā Wheako | Skills & Experience

  • Experience: Demonstrated history of supporting tamariki, rangatahi, or vulnerable people.
  • Temperament: Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions.
  • Skills: Strong communication and a willingness to learn trauma-informed practice.
  • Essentials: A current Full New Zealand Driver Licence and eligibility to work in Aotearoa NZ.
  • Cultural Focus: Knowledge of tikanga Māori and kaupapa Māori practice is highly desirable.
