Te Rūnanganui o Ngāti Porou (TRONP) continues to work in partnership with Gisborne District Council (GDC) and Government agencies to ensure that work continues in Matakaoa to support whānau.
We are actively working through the action points in the Recovery Plan that were informed by hapū leads including supporting the upskilling of our whānau in Emergency Response.
As we head towards the second part of the year, we are looking forward to supporting and leading more of the actions set out, in order to help Matakaoa get back to what is a new normal for most.
As part of the ongoing recovery efforts, the Pakeke Fund has provided practical support to whānau across the Matakaoa rohe, Waiapu and Ruatōria.
We received a total of 43 applications across the Matakaoa rohe, Waiapu and Ruatōria and helped to support a wide range of recovery and response works, including:
These applications have helped whānau address immediate recovery needs while supporting their ongoing wellbeing and resilience.
