Ministry for Culture and Heritage are leading a project designed to produce a comprehensive account of the recent history of Treaty of Waitangi settlements. The project will keep a record of historical narratives that combine what they describe as a scholarly rigour with popular appeal.

Ngāti Porou and the government have signed a new deal which will see the tribe meet with the key ministers annually to monitor the tribe's progress. It's part of gāti Porou's treaty settlement which was signed in 2012. The deal has already been beneficial to the tribes' region.
