Te Runanganui o Ngati Porou advises whanau that a by-election will be held in early 2026 to fill the vacant Noho Kaenga Representative position for Rohenga Tipuna 3 – Pohautea ki Te Onepoto.

A vacancy has arisen following the resignation of Patricia Hekia Parata on 30 June 2025. Ms Parata was one of two elected representatives for Rohenga Tipuna 3, elected in 2023. The by-election will appoint a replacement representative for the remainder of the current Board term, ending in late-2027.

A formal public notice calling for nominations will be advertised on Friday 30 January 2026. This notice will include full eligibility criteria, nomination requirements, key dates, and details on how whānau can participate.

At this stage, we simply wish to inform whanau that a by-election is scheduled and to encourage those who whakapapa to Rohenga Tipuna 3 to ensure their membership registration details are current.

The by-election will be administered independently by Electionz, who will manage nominations, the electoral roll, and the voting process.

By-election timetable

Nominations Open: Monday, 2 February 2026

Nominations Close: Friday, 27 February 2026, 5pm

Voting Opens: Thursday, 19 March 2026

Voting Closes: Monday, 20 April 2026, 12 noon
