The purpose of this funding is to help support Whanau, Hapu, Marae and community groups within the Ngati Porou Rohe to celebrate and enhance their cultural capacity and knowledge of Matariki, Te Matahi o Te Tau.Each Rohena Tipuna is allocated $10,000, which can be given to one entity within the Rohenga Tipuna or it can be divided amongst multiple entities within the Rohenga Tipuna.
Online applications open Friday 30 May, and close Friday 13 June 2025.

All applications must provide.
- A letter of support/endorsement from your Rohenga Tipuna and/or Hapu and/or Marae collective entity.
- A program Itinerary for your planned Whakanuia Matariki event/ project or wananga.
- A copy of your planned income & expenditure.
The goal of the Cultural and Sports sponsorship and grants program is to provide assistance for nga uri o Ngati Porou individuals and groups to celebrate and achieve their culture and sporting goals.
If you are involved in a cultural or sporting activity, and participating at a local, regional, national and international event then we encourage you to apply for a sponsorship or grant.
We believe that culture and sport are essential parts of our Ngati Porou identity. By supporting cultural and sporting activities at all levels, we are investing in the future of Ngati Porou.
