Maori TV ANZAC Day schedule to feature C Coy

A century after the Gallipoli landings, Māori Television is dedicating its entire April 25 programming schedule to Anzac Day. Documentaries and interviews about the contribution C Company made to WW 2 will feature as part of this line up, as well as korero from Ngati Porou Historian Dr Monty Soutar.

Māori Television’s Anzac Day programming will start with live coverage of the Dawn Service at the Auckland War Memorial Museum and will conclude with the Commemorative Service at Chunuk Bair on the Gallipoli Peninsula. From 4pm to 7pm there will be programmes of special interest to Ngati Porou.

  • 4pm: Dr Monty Soutar will give an overview of Māori participation in WW1
  • 5pm :C COMPANY STORIES Tiwai Reedy and Hinemoa Awatere share their stories of C Company as well as a profile of Jack Potaka, winner of the 2014 RSA Cyril Bassett VC School Speech competition.
  • 5:30pm TE KĀEA : NEWS (live) Local, regional and national Māori news and international news from the Māori Television reporting team.
  • 6:00pm THE COWBOYS – C COMPANY (documentary) The personal stories behind C Company, a 1100-strong band of volunteers from the East Coast tribes, who fought in Italy, Greece and North Africa during WW2.
