How to apply

To be eligible to apply for the reo revitalisation funding you must be a Ngati Porou:

  • whanau, hapu and/or marae collective'
  • rohenga tipuna
  • taurahere
  • reo collective, e.g. Kaiako belonging to Kohanga Reo, Puna Reo, Kura Kaupapa or Total Immersion collective committed to improving proficiency in Ngati Porou Reo

Applicant Ngati Porou whanau, hapu collectives, taurahere and education collaborations must be not-for-profit. Reo Champions will be responsible for applying/or supporting their hapu, marae and taurahere to make applications for Programmes 2-4.

Each programme has its own nomination/application criteria and will be added to this site once they become available or from our TRONPnui offices in both Gisborne and Ruatoria (currently only Programme One: Ngati Porou Reo Champions is available. Programmes 2-4 will be available in August 2017).  Guidelines will also be set out (who can apply and what they can apply for) to ensure access by as many Ngati Porou whanau as possible and the overall success of proposals.

We will also run workshops for people who want support to apply for funding from the Ngati Porou Reo revitalisation funding programme.

Hapu, Marae collectives and Rohenga tipuna, may apply for up to three Ngati Porou Reo revitalisation grants in any one year. Taurahere, taurahere whanau and Ngati Porou Reo Collectives can apply for up to two grants in any one year.

Undoubtedly, all activities undertaken will benefit our Reo in some way.  It is important however that we capture evidence about our successes so that we can be accountable to ourselves for ‘best use of reo funding’, we can share ‘best practice’, we have evidence to build a case for ongoing investments and ultimately achieve our long term vision of a vibrant and living Ngati Porou Reo.

All projects and activities supported by this programme will be reported at the Runanganui Hui a Tau.
