What a beautiful tribute & send off for Uncle Api. RIP

Papa Api, you have left an enormously rich legacy for not only Ngati Porou, but for all generations of iwi Maori and Tauiwi alike, both now and into the future. Your life, which you so freely gave to us, serving the people tirelessly, has touched us with the deepest impression of what love looks like, through Ngati Porou eyes. The great sorrow that we feel at our loss of you, is only comforted by the great joy that we can take in remembering and practising all that you and our tipuna of old, have entrusted to us. Thankyou e Pa, for your manaaki, your aroha, your tautoko, your total commitment to us, who are your rangatahi. We are, indeed, very proud to be Ngati Porou. You have set the bench mark very high. So may we seek to always carry with the same dignity, charisma, and integrity, the love of our people, which today Ta Api, belongs to you.

Travel well to our Heavenly Father, e Pa. Haere ra.

Arohanui,
na Jesamine Wanoa.
