Te Runanganui o Ngāti Porou AGM.
Each year our AGM is getting larger and longer because people are interested in the growth that Te Runanganui o Ngāti Porou has made, where those growth areas are and the benefits of this for Ngati Porou. Thank you Pakirikiri for running our longest AGM ever and thanks to our presenters for a magnificent job. There were no arguments or criticism and everything ran positively. Our business entities, the source of some of our income for many of our projects, are doing well for today and tomorrow.
All iwi belonging to the Iwi Collective group are 100% behind the iwi stance on climate change. I Chair this group and Chris Insley is my Secretary. I rely a lot on Chris as he has a lot of knowledge in this area and he has the confidence of the wider collective.
I recommend the Nati Link to every Nati as it carries much positive news about the achievements of Ngāti Porou wherever they may be. Nati Link is very professionally presented and is a credit to our people who have compiled it. Tēnā koutou, ka tino rangatira tatau i a koutou.
This is now up and running and the opportunity is available for those marae who wish to participate and enjoy the benefits of collectivism to do so. There is, however, no compulsion to those who wish to stand alone.
Te Tini o Porou.
Work has begun on Te Tini o Porou. This is a worthwhile purchase with potentially huge benefits for Ngāti Porou. We have missed the opportunity to purchase other properties in the past because of lack of resources. This is the first phase of redevelopment and on its completion there will be provision for the Youth Justice programme, Education and Training programmes leading to employment for our people, sport and recreation facilities and office space for Whānau Ora. Te Tini o Porou is already very well utilised by both Ngāti Porou groups and the wider community.
Finally, I wish to acknowledge both current and past staff and current and past trustees for the contributions they have made in making both Te Runanga o Ngāti Porou and, now, Te Runanganui o Ngāti Porou the success that it has been. We have a sound base to move forward positively into the future.
Na reira, Meri Kirihimete, Hape 2015 kia tatau katoa. Waiho e tatau o tatau mamae mō te hunga kua haere. Mā te Atua tatau e tiaki.
CHAIRMAN, TE RUNANGANUI O NGATI POROU
