Between 2003 and 2008 a series of takutai moana site visits were held to help gather evidence which demonstrated nga hapu o Ngati Porou’s customary title to the foreshore and seabed. During the visits hapu members shared korero about their traditional practices and tikanga, significant sites and landmarks, and other korero associated with their mana moana.
