19th January, 2016

The biggest long-term threat to our environment is global warming caused by human-made emissions of carbon dioxide. The negative impact of climate change on the world’s economy will have a big impact on our people. Erosion will continue to worsen, affecting our whenua and our ability to farm sustainably.

A Climate Change hui will be held on Tuesday 19th Jan 2016, 11am at Hauiti Marae, Tolaga Bay.

This will be an opportunity for Ngati Porou to learn more about the International Climate Change Agreement established at the recent climate change conference in Paris in December 2015 as well as the review of the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme (NZ ETS) and its potential impacts on Ngati Porou.

For further information about the hui please contact Selwyn Parata.
