Calling Maori and Pasifika students in their final 2 years of tertiary study to register their interest in the upcoming TupuToa Summer Internship Opportunities which aims to pathway Māori and Pacific students into corporate and professional careers.

TupuToa is an innovative investment partnership between partner organisations, interns, tertiary institutions, whānau and Maori and Pasifika communities.

They take students in their second to last year and last year of university and place them in businesses/corporates.  This is to help them get experience, understand the recruitment system and ideally find roles after graduation in these businesses.

Māori & Pasifika tertiary students can benefit from the TupuToa summer internship programme that offers:

  • Authentic whānau inclusion
  • A cultural empowerment programme that helps our young people understand their values and to use these to successfully navigate the corporate world
  • Business readiness training
  • An exciting internship opportunity with a leading New Zealand corporate
  • Ongoing support and development to ensure the learning and development is effective.

TupuToa would like to meet with and assist Rangitahi that demonstrate the following attributes:

  • final two years of tertiary study
  • is purpose driven, and connected to their community
  • is eager for an opportunity to experience an internship in their area of study
  • interested in a career in a corporate field, including:
    • Accounting & Finance
    • Corporate law
    • HR
    • Engineering
    • IT fields
    • Marketing
    • Logistics
    • Sustainability
    • Research and Policy
    • General business
    • is keen to take opportunities that arise

For this coming summer these opportunities are largely based in Auckland, with some based in Wellington.  If you know of any students that may be interested in an opportunity with TupuToa, they would appreciate the opportunity to meet with them to see if they can find a suitable internship match.

The businesses and organisations include AirNZ, BNZ, Fletcher Building, ANZ, Skycity, PWC, Simpson Grierson, Minter Ellison, Super Fund, Russel McVeagh, Microsoft, Spark, ACC, Genesis, MFE, MBIE and others.

There is no guarantee that all students that are put forward will receive internships but they’ll try really hard.
