Runanga Structure
Introduction
The structure of the runanga is split into governance and management levels as shown in the diagram below.

The Board of TrusteesTe Runanga o Ngati Porou is governed by a board of 20 trustees, elected triennially by adult tribal members registered on the runanga electoral roll. Runanga representatives are elected to the board from each of the four rohe – for more information on rohe see marae and hapu affiliations.
The board's duties are to:
- develop the runanga's strategic vision and direction
- approve the strategic plan and monitor performance against it
- appoint the CEO, and manage, monitor and review performance
- approve financial and non-financial delegations
- ensure robust financial, audit and risk management processes are in place.
The triennial Board elections were held in 2008. Please see runanga projects for more information on the elections. Voters must be registered on Te Runanga o Ngati Porou electoral roll – please see Ngati Porou register for more information.

The Management Team
The role of the senior management team is to:
- develop a strategic plan that aligns to the board's strategic vision
- ensure the organisation achieves the plan's objectives
- report to the board via the Kaihautu on financial and non financial performance.
The current core team comprises:

- Kaiwhakahaere Oranga Whanau (Oranga Whanau Services Manager): Anne Huriwai
- Kaiwhakahaere Matauranga (Matauranga Manager): Lilian Tangaere Baldwin
